How Did We Get Here? to be presented as a reading in
Theatre 167’s New Works Festival.
DTDC’s inaugural work How Did We Get Here? The Story of The Donner Party will be given a staged reading at the West End Theatre on 86th Street as part of Theatre 167’s festival celebrating new works by their Affiliated Artists. The reading will feature ANNIKA BORAS, JONATHAN RAYSON, GABRIELA GARCIA, DION MUCCIACITO, MARLA MCREYNOLDS, GEORGE HIRSCH, LEAHATO ROBINSON, MARISSA PALLEY, IGOR CORREA, KHADIJA GRIFFITH, LUCY TAYLOR, and RYAN FARNSWORTH. The reading will be directed by DTDC Artistic Director, JEFFRY DENMAN.
In 1846 a group of pioneers departed Independence, Missouri with their sights set on California. Sold the false promise of a shorter route, they became trapped in the Sierras during an especially harsh winter. Inspired by first person accounts, the tragic story of The Donner Party is reimagined to investigate the extreme choices people will make in order to survive. How Did We Get Here? began its life as The Donner Party Project and has been developed by DTDC with initial cooperation from Broadway Dance Lab.
